Nadia Morsink (1993)

I believe that every image tells a story. I actually taught myself how to use a camera by just doing and experimenting with a camera. My first project was a documentary. I knew right away that I wanted to capture real stories, because of the emotion and people’s lives, without being staged.

At a certain point I became interested in analog photography and I discovered how atmospheric and narrative this technique is.

I am an admirer of the 60s and 70s and I get a lot of inspiration from this period. Such as clothing, music and interior. The location and clothing for a shoot are very important for my work and style. That's why I find it important to discuss these things before a shoot. For example by creating a moodboard. Then I stay true to myself. I believe that imperfection makes a picture perfect. I always try to make a photo unique, personal, abstract and a little bit mysterious.

Photography is capturing a visual memory forever. Isn’t that extraordinary?

I believe in my own visual insight and I hope to use it to create a story for everyone.
